Kathy Lee is a former lawyer and the owner of The Pole Project studio in Cape Town, as well as a pole athlete and certified pole instructor in her own right.
Her love for pole dance has taken her all over the world, including training in London, Russia, New York, Singapore and Cape Town with renowned international pole artists.
The Pole Project was thus born from a desire to teach others the passion and spirit of pole dance as an exciting way to explore the art of dance, and as a form of exercise to improve fitness, tone, strength and endurance. Kathy’s vision for the studio, housed in a stunning industrial space, is an “aerial arts playground” where people from all walks of life can train in pole dance as an outlet for their strength, creativity and agility.
Since the studio started in February 2014, The Pole Project tribe has grown into a elite collective of strong, fierce and dynamic instructors, consisting of some of the top pole athletes in the country.
In addition to Pole Fitness classes, the more sensual style of Exotic Pole is offered as an empowering expression of womanhood, allowing women to explore their sensuality, build confidence and lots of attitude! Because we also strongly believe in a holistic approach to pole dance and fitness, you will also find classes such as Pole Flow, Pole Power and Flex & Bend to cover every facet of your training needs.
Aerial classes, including silks, lyra/hoop and trapeze are offered privately.
You will find both men and women at the studio. Men are welcomed – nay encouraged – to participate in pole fitness and the aerial arts.
The studio offers the perfect space for fun pole dancing events and parties, and our experienced instructors are available for hire as performers (pole, silks, hoop, trapeze, contortion and acro).
In addition, Kathy is the brains behind The Pole Factor, a celebrated annual pole dance competition in Cape Town; as well as A Feast of Flight, an annual pole and aerial dance theatre extravaganza and the first of its kind in the country.
